Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy

Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy is founded in 1958. It is the only higher educational institution of 4th accreditation level in Ukraine specialized in engineering pedagogues’ training for the system of vocational training. Teachers, training officers for technical colleges, technical schools as well as engineers for production departments and design offices are trained in the Academy. Students also have an opportunity to get the second specialty and a working profession in the course of their studies.

UEPA today has:

– 4th accreditation level (the highest in Ukraine );

– 8 faculties: Power Engineering; Radio Electronics; Electro-mechanics and Computer Systems; Mechanical and Technological; Machine-Building; Technological; Social and Economic; Electro-technical (branches in Artemovsk, Slavyansk ); Mining Engineering (branch in Stakhanov);

– 38 chairs;

– 21 engineering-pedagogic specialties for vocational training;

– 10 engineering, social-economic and pedagogic specialties;

– Education levels: Bachelor (4 years), Specialist (1 year after Bachelor), Master (1 year after Bachelor or Specialist);

– 11 000 students of full-time and external studies, including more than 100 foreign students;

– 407 lecturers, including 40 Doctors of Science, Professors, 240 Doctors of Philology, senior lecturers;

– Post-graduate studies (leading to Ph.D. or Doctoral degree);

– Sports center and health center;

– 5 student hostels;

– Library and computer center;

– Medical station;

– Preparatory Department for foreign students.

International activities

International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP) accredited UEPA as a higher educational institution meeting European standards of engineering education in 2000; therefore the Academy has been included into the European Register IGIP-INDEX. The National Monitoring Committee for Engineering Education functioning at the Academy has the powers to award the title of European Educator (International Engineer-Pedagogue).

Foreign students of UEPA have the right

– To obtain Bachelor, Specialist, Master, International Engineer-Pedagogue diploma in case of successful studies;

– To choose educational, professional and individual programs;

– To continue their education; get an additional education, and vocational training;

– To have access to information in all fields of knowledge;

– To take part in research, constructing and other types of scientific activities, conferences, contests, exhibitions, competitions;

– To use educational, scientific, production, cultural, sports, housing, health facilities of the academy;

– To stay at student hostel;

– To use medical services.

Rules of Foreign Students Admission to the Preparatory Department

Foreign citizens without any discrimination by race, skin color, political, religious and other beliefs, status, place of residence, language are accepted to studies.

Preparatory Department provides pre-university education for foreign citizens. They study Russian or Ukrainian during one academic year; they also obtain necessary knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and other fundamental sciences.

On successful completion of the Preparatory Department foreign citizens obtain Certificates of an appropriate state form which give them an opportunity to continue their studies at any higher educational institutions of Ukraine .

For entering the Preparatory Department of the Academy the candidate must produce following documents:

– National passport with exit visa of “O” type that can be obtained on the basis of the personal Invitation issued by the Academy;

– Original and a copy of the Certificate of Complete Secondary Education (10-12 years of studies) with marks that should be registered notarially and translated into Russian or Ukrainian and that is to be nostrified in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;

– Copy of birth certificate notarially registered and translated into Russian or Ukrainian;

– Medical certificate issued at the latest 2 months before arrival in Ukraine for studies;

– Certificate of the absence of AIDS-disease;

– Return ticket with open leaving date;

– 6 photos (size 6х4 cm).

Tuition fee for the Preparatory Department is paid by the student or by the representative of the agent-company on the spot, in the Academy and amounts to 1000 USD per year.

Terms of studies. The academic year consists of two semesters; the autumn semester begins on September 1, the spring semester starts on February 1 and finishes about 5-7 July. Winter holidays are two weeks long; summer holidays are two months long (July, August). As the arrival of students in Ukraine is possible within the period from 15 August to 15 November, autumn semester classes can start later than 1 September.

Housing. Rooms for two or three people are available in the student hostel not far from the Academy and near the city center. Cost of staying is $30 per month, cost of meals is about $100 per month, medical insurance costs $75 per year, and urban transport expenses $ 0.1 per trip.

Rules of Foreign Students Admission to the Basic Faculties

For entering the basic faculties of the Academy the foreign student must produce following documents:

– National passport;

– Original and a notarially registered copy of education certificate with translation into Russian or Ukrainian with the list of subjects and marks that is to be nostrified in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;

– Certificate of complete studies at a Preparatory Department in Ukraine ;

– Copy of birth certificate notarially registered and translated into Russian or Ukrainian;

– Medical certificate issued at the latest 2 months before arrival to the Academy for studies;

– Certificate on the absence of AIDS-disease;

– 6 photos (size 6х4 cm).

The student is admitted for studies after the interview, signing contract with the Academy and paying tuition fee.

The tuition fee for basic faculties is paid by the student on the spot, in the Academy and amounts to 1500 USD per year.

Terms of studies. The academic year starts on September, 1. Taking into account difficulties connected with arrival of foreigners in Ukraine , they can be accepted for studies until October, 1, and in exceptional cases even until November, 15.
